Anderson House DC Wedding of Dolores and Evan

Anderson House Weddings tend to be spectacular, but for Dolores and Evan's wedding, it was simply a backdrop for celebrating Dolores and Evan's epic relationship and much anticipated wedding. Quoting their wedding website:

"Evan and Dolores’s friendship and torrid love affair actually dates back to the 6th grade when Dolores wrote the following diary entry:

February 8, 1997

…. I’ve had no boyfriends so far but I kinda like Evan Siegel – and he knows."

Imagine looking back through your diary and finding that years later and marrying that person. The two did not fully jump into their relationship until much later. Again, quoting their website:

"When summer 2009 rolled around, Evan’s persistence finally paid off and Dolores gave in. That summer they began what is commonly referred to as “Round 2.” Dolores and Evan have been together ever since, venturing from Manhattan to Brooklyn, from Brooklyn to Las Vegas and now onto Washington, D.C.

The culmination of this beautiful courtship took place on a sunny D.C. afternoon. On that day, June 2, 2013, with a smattering of homeless people to witness the momentous occasion, Evan proposed to Dolores."

Their website, which features a photo of the two of them in the Snapshot Studio at Emily and John's Wedding has a simple caption: "The time has come." Indeed, it was time for this couple to gather the most amazing group of family and friends to host one of Anderson House's most emotional and spirited weddings to date. I just adore this couple, their families and lifelong friends they share. It was great fun to document this day and my best to Dolores and Evan.

I do not understand what Evan is doing in this photo, but I love that no one even notices what's happening:

Dolores's father, a kind-hearted gracious and genuine person, suffered a rare accident 6 months prior to the wedding. I had not known the full story until later in the evening when he shared it during the welcome toast. I learned that when he first awoke from the accident, he wrote to his doctor (in attendance at the wedding) that it was very important to accompany his daughter down the aisle. I remember being very much in my photographer mindset- thinking about my settings, lens usage, composition and moment when shooting this, but it hit me hard while I was editing the images to see the pure love in this photo. My best to him in his recovery.
