Multicultural Wedding at District Winery: Anna and Amit
District Winery is one of our team’s favorite wedding venues in Washington, DC and is one that we photograph weddings at all through the year. I was especially excited for Anna & Amit’s wedding as I love any chance to photograph a non-traditional wedding. Anna & Amit were blending cultures on their wedding day and so they decided to have both a Hindu wedding ceremony and a traditional American wedding ceremony. In my many years as a wedding photographer, I have been lucky to photograph a handful of Hindu and South Asian weddings and I am always in awe of the rituals and traditions as there is so much symbolism incorporated into the ceremony. Anna’s mother served as officiant for the American wedding ceremony, adding another special element to their wedding day.
The overall design concept for this multicultural wedding day was glam contemporary and I think their creative wedding team pulled it off perfectly, creating a beautiful hybrid Hindu-American wedding. Jewel tones were a big focus for the Hindu ceremony, while all-white with roses, orchids, and cherry blossoms were the showcase for the American ceremony. All of the design elements were combined for the wedding reception, and it was a stunning day overall. You won’t want to miss the stunning florals!
