Mount Vernon Country Club Wedding: Victoria + Michael
We met up slightly by accident on the Friday before the wedding. One thing led to another, and I only then got to visit the wedding venue for some scouting. (I usually try to visit a venue if I haven't photographed there before.) Vicki, Michael and their whole crew were rehearsing for the wedding the next day when I drove up, giving me the rare treat of getting to know everyone a little bit while not having to work--more or less taking in the atmosphere. This, of course, prepared me for the next day even more, on a personal level.
Vicki got ready at her parents' house, full of friends and children running around. I love that kind of craziness. Reading a letter from Michael, I got an early look into the emotion to expect later that day. Crying, laughing, and dancing aren't really that much different at a wedding, and certainly they all had a place in this one.
I found some great photographs, too, that I'm proud of. There, on the altar, I noticed the lights behind them and they felt mirror-like in their reflection of the couple in the foreground. As well, when Vicki's father met them as they walked out, I saw him not so much as just her father, but as a stand-in for everyone there, really.
Later, at the reception, we had a great many portraits to make, and a very happy crowd. (Happy people are the worst to corral!) But, upon successful completion of the family photos, Vicki, Michael and I took the golf cart onto the course. It is now my learned opinion that any couple with access to a golf cart or similar two-seated (I hung on off the back) should race around on their own sometime after portraits! We zoomed about, made some nice photos, and arrived back at the reception refreshed.
The dancing was robust. And it continued for some time. We photographed it all. And it was fun.
Vicki and Michael left with the bubbles, and I assume they are basking in some form of marital bubble right now.
Cheers! It was a privilege to photograph your wedding.
