Michael and Rebecca's Annapolis wedding
I could have guessed that Michael was going to be the one who started crying. He looked so relaxed before the wedding, out on the Bay side of Becky's parents' home outside Annapolis, I wondered just how relaxed he really was. Then, as Becky came down the aisle, I saw a bit of shaking in my peripheral vision. It was Mike, trying to hold it together.
And then they were together, facing the Chesapeake Bay in Becky's parents' yard, as they made their vows to remain so forever.
Becky's dress was perfect, and Mike looked every bit a sharp. Their friends and family were delightful. The flowers and the sun said Spring.
The reception was made for mingling with family and friends. A string quartet played throughout, the food was excellent, and the whole atmosphere was intimate. I felt as though I was a guest in a way that I rarely get to experience. Weddings at private homes, especially the family's home, bring with them a sense of place and family that invites a closeness that is difficult to find elsewhere. As the light began to sink low, I was lucky enough to catch Mike and Becky in that light, with the water stretched beyond them like the years to come.
