Woodrow Wilson House Wedding: Jess and Will
Let me first say that this couple got up at at 5am (at least!) to shoot their engagement session with me. That kind of dedication deserves a bit of photographic respect. And if a relationship looks that good so early in the morning, I was pretty sure the rest was going to look pretty good.
On to the wedding, they held it at Georgetown Epiphany Catholic Church, which has very nice light and just enough room to seem grand while remaining intimate. Jess was worried while getting ready that her dad would cry. He did, but she was the one who looked ready to burst into tears. As a photographer, I'm biased, but who isn't going to melt from her look at Will on the altar?
After the wedding, the party got started at the Woodrow Wilson House. Having been my first time there as a photographer, I was worried about how to represent the courtyard. But that was merely my well-tended professional anxieties. The location was perfect. Beautiful light, beautiful views. My favorite image from the reception is of the both of them during their first dance. It's intimate--almost private--but still in view of everyone underneath the glowing lights of the courtyard.
When the rest of the party joined in the dancing, you'll see that no one was spared a good time. Leaving the party, Jess and Will ran (and I mean ran! They walked slowly enough down the aisle, but exiting the party was something I only caught using some long-standing reflexes) to the car through the sparklers.
Congrats, Jess and Will!
